Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Reverse Osmosis (RO) was developed by the Merill Lynch Company to filter water by using a membrane that uses tension to force water through a semi-permeable membrane.  This membrane is called a diaphragm bar.  A diaphragm bar has a zone around the membrane that is called the shear zone.  This zone is basically the difference in the height of the two sides of the membrane.  The shear zone affects the flow rate of the product through the membrane.  This is why you will generally find tap water run through a cones filter which allows it to flow through the filter without touching the floor.

The floor can help control the amount of pressure the membrane barges through when it bobs during the processing of the water.  This is why you will generally see an official recommendation or a cap on the level of the filter.  The cap is just an additional form of support for the membrane.

Mineral Content and Heavy Metal Contamination

Mineral content – some people claim that because minerals contain a high amount of impurities that they are better for you than the others; however, most of the minerals in water are naturally occurring and not derived from any industrial substance.  At the same time, the amount of metals – especially heavy metals – infused into purified water could wreak a havoc on your body through extreme metal toxicity.  Heavy metals, especially mercury, are well known to be toxic and can be damaging to the human body.

However, some claim that water purified using a reverse osmosis system has no noticeable effect on the metal or plastic that is contained in many bottles.  The point is, your body is comprised largely of water.  Water is the material that carries nutrients to your cells.  Without it, your cells would drown and would otherwise die.  So, it is important to get the maximum benefit out of purified water as much as possible.

The bottom line is that there are water filtration systems that are affordable and provide the highest level of purified water.  You may find a system that does both, which is a good sign.  Choose the one that is the best for your budget and health.  Even though scientific evidence has not been finalized, the best bet is to use those that are proven to be effective.  Even taking the advice of doctors is not really safe enough as there are a lot of manufactured drugs in the market.  To be safe, you may consider a home solution such as one of these easy to install home drinking water treatment systems.

What you need to consider is that you will need a method to purify the water that you drink.  vying for the top spot as the best method is, of course, distilled water.  Distillation vaporizes regular tap water into sterilized steam.  This process is said to eliminate chemicals from the water making it safe and clean tasting.  Distillation is also said to be able to eliminate bacteria, chemicals, drugs and pollutants from water.

Not everyone is happy about having tap water that is heavily laden with impurities.  Going to the grocery store to pick up a bottle of water does not make a ton of difference.  The same goes for many of the systems that are on the market.  You may gain some health benefits from drinking distilled water, but you still have to reckon with the fact that it comes from nature.  The question is: is distilled water healthier than regular tap water?  According to scientists, there is no difference.  Distilled water and regular tap water both come from the same source: the human body.

The important question for you to consider is whether or not extra plastic is in the water you drink.  Although it is not harmful, we definitely know that POPs (polychlorinated biphenyls) are being found in our water.  This is also probably the major reason why you should not have bottled water in your home.  Still, many people continue to have it delivered to their homes, and I am not specifically calling it an act of laziness or denying the importance of proper hydration.  I merely believe that there is a great potential for choice in the field of home water treatment systems.  While a person can have the hardest time finding the right home water treatment systems, a system like this should be the first choice of many.

Although there are critics of both systems, I believe that there is far more assurance in the work of a specialty business about the way their water treatment works.  You will find that specialist businesses have distinct goals and objectives that allow them to achieve results that many would assume to be impossible. Principles such as: prevent chlorine and PVC from entering your family’s drinking water;
