I was a "big guy" from a young age. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was in the sixth grade and have taken a thyroid pill ever since. A thyroid pill is a powerful hormone, and it did make me feel a little more energetic, but it also made me hungry all the time. On my doctor's advice, I switched to a more balanced diet of lean meat, fruits, vegetables, and grains, and added more exercise into my life on my doctor's advice. In the course of about six months, I had lost 40 pounds! It felt great to be able to wear clothes that fit me again and not have to worry about finding room for myself on the bus or airplane.
