Fate Of Food

Cooking seems to have developed into a major skill only in today’s modern society. In ancient times, only the emperor’s meals were succeeded by culinary skills. But today, such is not the case. Due to the excessive indulgence of time in cooking, more and more kitchenware used in cooking is now mere culinary devices. These include plates, pans, quail eggs, Roquefort cheese and more. And why? Well, for one, because they are functional and make the food provided more easily palatable. Second, because they are attractive. But mainly because, in the long run, they save you time and effort.

However, recently discovered facts about plates and other cooking items tell us that they were first made to serve more. Details are scant, but according to them, it is a fact that the ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians discovered that soaking fats and sugars in large quantities helped to make food healthier and tastier. Then, in ancient Sumer about 2000 B.C., baked flat breads were discovered by suckling pigs. These flat breads contained spices, honey, and nectar. Some time around the year 500 B.C., deserts-related industries thrived as well in ancient China.

However, the earliest forms of catering are widely believed to have been established much earlier. The hors d’oeuvres were basically the forerunner of the present day offers that are so popular in dinner parties and informal gatherings. Moreover, the early Greeks used to throw parties in the taverns in which they lived. They not only gave birth to the BBQ but also taught the Italians how to make traditional Italian food by using basil, oregano, and lettuce. The bears and roasted lamb are some of the most popular meats; and both of these ingredients are very traditional to the cuisines of the two countries.

The present day forms of Italian food have been influenced by the political atmosphere throughout the ages. Around 570 A.D., many of the inhabitants of Northern Europe discovered Northern Africa’s cocoa, valuable in its natural state, and called it “the gold of the cocoa plant.” This was the beginning of the chocolate’s popularity in Europe. About the middle of the 1700s, coffee discovered in the Konstantin region was listed among the world’s most expensive natural resources.

With the abundance of cocoa, brewers needed to come up with a new beverage to replace the one loses flavor and color when melted in strong alcoholic drinks. The choice was easy: Since chocolate had become popular, it was the perfect choice. The Dutch were the first to use chocolate in their form of an alcoholic beverage. Sola (tightly wrapped coffee) was slowly being eaten by the colonists in America. It was tightly wrapped to keep it from going bad and was packed in coconut boxes. Thus, the first American cocktail was born.

The strawberry, again linked to the African market, was enjoyed by the colonists as a cure for ailments. The strawberry grows in clusters that have long been a Christmas decoration. It’s a medium sized fruit and inside is a huge edible yellow flower.

The raspberry was among the first mushrooms to be introduced to Europe. It is a delicate mushroom that is safed and has a meaty taste. It comes in a variety of colors, but mostly a light lavender color.

The sweet corn has been a popular delicacy for years. In fact, one of the most popular books of the 16th century was called simply “a cook’s handbook.” The corn is baked and then stuffed with tasty ingredients including pumpkin, savory, and even tarragon.
