General Rules to Remember

Now that you know what to eat, you’ll also want to know how often you need to eat it. Your ideal lunchtime meal will be between noon and three or four, you’ll have between four and six meals a day all in one.

Eating your lunch out of a bag or a box is bad because you will be too busy eating and forget where you are going. Always take your lunch out of your own container and put it into a zip lock bag. You will be able to fit a lot more into your lunch bag than the ones you buy at the store.

You should also know how much sugar you’re taking in. Be careful when you buy dinners as they will contain a lot more sugar than you might think. You really don’t need all that pineapple or orange juice when you can have a more natural and healthier version of your meal.

Make sure you go easy on the condiments, sauces and dressings. These add a lot more fat to your meal, but you can always have a few, just don’t overdo it.

Salads:

Salad is great to have with lunch or dinner, you can even have one with breakfast or if you’re in a hurry.

Read the labels on the dressing or dressing sauces, you’ll be surprised at how many calories these little things add.

Bread or rolls:

If you must have bread or rolls, look for whole wheat or whole grain rolls or bagels. There is no difference between a regular size roll of bread or a whopper with greens.

With a whopper, I mean a real whopper with greens. Rolled oats, barley and wheat berries are another good choice.

Pizza:

Once again stay away from the processed pizza, but if you must eat pizza, graze on one or make your own. Use whole wheat crust (doesn’t have to be whole wheat though), low fat mozzarella cheese, veggies, and lots of olive oil.

Beans:

Beans are a great add on to any meal. They are soft and contain lots of protein. Also a great choice for a side dish to accompany your dinner. Canned beans will be close at second place.

Seafood:

Canned tuna, salmon and shrimp are all loaded with protein. Tuna alone will be enough to give you your daily requirement, you do not need each whole fish.

We do not eat meat everyday, but if we ate meat it would be a lot easier to get our protein.
